Leong Hwa Monastery is a Traditional Chinese Mahayana monastery with a legacy spanning over a century. Land title records dating back to 21 March 1901 document the Monastery’s long-standing presence and the dedication of various Venerables to its growth. For a period of time, the Monastery was managed by the lay community.

A pivotal chapter began in 1989, when Venerable Sek Meow Ee was invited to take over the leadership and spiritual direction of the Monastery. Under his guidance, the Monastery premises were rebuilt; in May 2002, the name LEONG HWA MONASTERY was adopted to better reflect our mission in the modern era.

The Monastery was officially registered as a Society on 22 February 1995 and as a Charity on 24 February 2003. While our sister organization, Viriya Community Services (also founded by Ven. Sek Meow Ee), manages charitable outreach, Leong Hwa Monastery remains dedicated to the spiritual cultivation and religious needs of the community.

We honour the legacy of our past prominent Venerables:

• Ven. Sek Hock Siew, Ven. Sek Sok Wah, Ven. Sek Leong Choon, Ven. Sek Cheng San, Ven. Sek Cheng Kong, and Ven. Sek Whay Kuan.

促進人類和平與和諧

龍華寺是一座傳統的中華大乘佛教道場,傳承至今已逾百年。根據 1901 年 3 月 21 日的土地權屬記錄,記載了本寺悠久的歷史,以及歷代諸位長老對本寺發展的卓越貢獻。在過去一段時期,本寺曾由民間信眾(居家大德)負責管理。

1989 年,本寺迎來了重要的轉折點,妙義大和尚應邀接掌本寺的領導與教務導師工作。在大和尚的領導下,道場建築得以重建。2002 年 5 月重建落成,並於 2003 年 4 月 20 日正式更名為「龍華寺」(LEONG HWA MONASTERY),以更契合道場在現代社會的弘法使命。

本寺於 1995 年 2 月 22 日正式註冊為社團,並於 2003 年 2 月 24 日註冊為慈善機構。雖然相關慈善事業由妙義大和尚創辦的附屬機構「毘梨耶社區服務中心」(Viriya Community Services)負責,但龍華寺始終致力於社區的靈性修持與宗教指導。

What We Do: Cultivating the Path

We provide a centre for the study and practice of the Buddha's teachings:

• Sunday & Festive Services: Regular chanting and prayer services held every Sunday and on key dates in the Buddhist Lunar Calendar.
• Dharma Education: Classes and workshops to deepen the understanding of the Buddha’s teachings and their application to daily life.
• Eight-Precept Retreats: Intensive retreats held twice annually during Vesak Day and Amitabha Buddha’s Birthday.
• Merit Dedication: Personalised services for birthdays, anniversaries, and funeral rites, assisting families in the meaningful practice of dedicating merits to loved ones.

Honorary Religious Advisor
Venerable Tsang Hui

Venerable Tsang Hui is a preeminent global Buddhist leader currently serving as the Vice President of the World Buddhist Sangha Council. Born in Taiwan, he was a pioneer among his generation, becoming one of the first monastics to bridge traditional practice with modern academia. After studying under the renowned Venerable Yin Shun at the Fu Yuan Vihara, he earned a degree in Education and Mathematics from the Taiwan National Normal University.

In 1977, Venerable Tsang Hui relocated to Australia to plant the seeds of the Dharma. His compassionate outreach initially focused on supporting Indo-Chinese refugees, providing both spiritual guidance and practical educational aid. His commitment to Buddhist youth led him founded the Buddhist Society at the University of New South Wales (UNIBUDS), where he continues to serve as a Patron.

Throughout his distinguished career, he has established several landmark institutions, including:

• Hwa Tsang Monastery (Sydney, Australia)
• Yan San Shu Monastery (Fuzhou, China)

Vision and Philosophy
Venerable Tsang Hui is a staunch advocate for the modernization of Buddhist education. He believes that a rigorous understanding of the Dharma is the indispensable foundation for practice, particularly for the younger generation. By cultivating "faith, confidence, and interest" through study, he asserts that individuals can gain the wisdom and tools necessary to navigate the complexities of contemporary life.

Known for a teaching style that is as lively and humorous as it is profound, the Venerable excels at translating complex scriptures into practical wisdom for daily living. He remains dedicated to fostering a collaborative synergy between the Sangha and the laity to ensure the continued vitality and relevance of Buddhism in the 21st century.

本院榮譽導師

上藏下慧大和尚

藏慧大和尚現任世界佛教僧伽會副會長,是當代具備深厚佛學造詣與現代學識的佛門宗師。大和尚出生於台灣,早年於「福嚴精舍」追隨印順導師熏修,隨後畢業於台灣師範大學(主修教育與數學),是台灣首批受過現代高等大學教育的僧伽先行者。

1977年,大和尚遠赴澳洲弘法,將菩提種子播撒於南半球。弘法初期,大和尚不僅致力於經藏宣講,更慈悲關懷印支難民,為其提供精神支柱與學業輔導。為接引青年學子,大和尚創立了新南威爾斯大學佛教青年會 (UNIBUDS) 並受邀擔任贊助人至今。

大和尚在國際弘法事業上成就卓越,先後創辦:

• 澳洲雪梨華藏寺
• 中國福州嚴山書院

弘法理念與願景

藏慧大和尚始終主張「佛法教育化」與「佛法生活化」。他強調,佛法知識是修行的基石,唯有透過系統的研習建立正知正見,方能生起堅定的信仰與信心。大和尚特別重視青少年的佛學根基培養,主張唯有及早紮根,才能在繁忙紛雜的現代生活中,運用佛法智慧化解迷惘。

大和尚說法風格生動幽默、深入淺出,善於將深奧的經文轉化為契合現代生活的處世良方。他積極推動僧信二眾的交流與合作,致力於讓古老的佛法在現代社會中煥發生機,續佛慧命。

The Abbot 住持

Venerable Shi GuRu

Venerable GuRu was ordained on 8 April 2002, as a novice monk under Venerable Master Ji Chun 上继下纯法師 at Qingliang Temple, Changzhou, Jiangsu Province. In April 2004, he journeyed to Ancient Qixia Monastery (Qīxiá Gǔ Sì) in Nanjing to receive the Full (Triple Plaƞorm) of Complete Precepts (三壇大戒Sān Tán Dà Jiè).

Following his ordination, he remained in residence at Qingliang Temple, diligently advancing in study and practice, and successively undertook the following administrative duties:

• May 2004 — Appointed as Dharma Service Facilitator (悅眾 Yuèzhòng) at Qingliang Temple
• June 2004 — Engaged as a member of the Jiangsu Provincial Buddhist Music Ensemble
• February 2006 — Appointed as Director of PracƟce (维那 Wéinà) at Qingliang Temple
• September 2008 — Appointed as MonasƟc Supervisor (僧值 Sēngzhí) at Qingliang Temple
• February 2010 — Appointed as Guest Prefect (知客 Zhīkè) at Qingliang Temple
• February 2014 — Appointed as Superintendent (監院 Jiānyuàn) at Qingliang Temple

Over the years, through diligent cultivation and study, his virtuous reputation grew steadily. In February 2016, responding to an invitation, Venerable GuRu came to Singapore to take up residence at Leong Hwa Monastery where he served as the Dharma Instructor for communal cultivation, leading the assembly in joint practice.

In May 2022, at the 27th Annual General Meeting, he was unanimously elected and assumed the role of Abbot of Leong Hwa Monastery — a position he has held with unwavering commitment, presiding over the Monastery, propagating the true Dharma, and guiding the community to this day.

上古下如大和尚

古如大和尚於 2002 年 4 月 8 日,於江蘇省常州清涼寺禮上继下纯法師剃度出家。2004 年 4 月,法師遠赴南京棲霞古寺受持三壇大戒,圓滿具足戒。

受戒後,法師常住清涼寺,精進修學,並先後擔當下列寺務重任:

• 2004 年 5 月 — 擔任清涼寺悅眾(法務助教)
• 2004 年 6 月 — 受聘為江蘇省佛樂團成員
• 2006 年 2 月 — 擔任清涼寺維那(領贊法師)
• 2008 年 9 月 — 擔任清涼寺僧值(寺院監察)
• 2010 年 2 月 — 擔任清涼寺知客(外事接待)
• 2014 年 2 月 — 擔任清涼寺監院(寺院總管)

多年來,法師透過不懈的熏修與研習,德望日隆。2016 年 2 月,法師應邀來到新加坡,常住於龍華藏院,擔任共修導師,引領大眾精進修持。

2022 年 5 月,在第二十七屆常年大會中,法師眾望所歸,獲一致推選榮任龍華藏院住持。至今,法師始終秉持初心,主持道場,弘揚正法,不遺餘力地指引四眾弟子。

Venerable Shi Xing Tang
Director of Dharma Affairs

Venerable Shi Xing Tang received the monastic tonsure under the Venerable Cizhou (上慈下舟老和尚) at Jinshan Jiangtian Zen Temple in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu in February 1990. He received his full ordination in May 1992 at Longchang Monastery, Mount Baohua in Nanjing.

From August 1993 to March 2000, he travelled to various prominent monasteries, including Hualian Temple in Guangzhou and Jing'an Temple in Shanghai, where he devoted himself to intensive study and spiritual cultivation. In May 2000, he took up residence at Leong Hwa Monastery and over two decades, he has remained steadfast in his service, presiding over the Monastery’s liturgical functions and overseeing all major Dharma affairs.

釋心潭法師
法務主任

釋心潭法師於 1990 年 2 月,在江蘇鎮江金山江天禪寺禮上慈下舟老和尚剃度出家。1992 年 5 月,於南京市寶華山隆昌律寺受持三壇大戒,圓滿具足戒。

1993 年 8 月至 2000 年 3 月期間,法師先後參學於廣州華聯寺、上海靜安寺等名剎,潛心修研佛法。2000 年 5 月,法師正式駐錫新加坡龍華藏院。二十多年來,法師始終恪盡職守,主持各項法務,監督道場儀軌,致力於法輪常轉。

Venerable Shi Wei Ding
Director of Dharma Education and Culture

Venerable Shi Wei Ding, having possessed deep spiritual roots since childhood, he officially entered the Sangha in February 2015. He underwent his tonsure ceremony under Venerable Master Hong Xiu (上宏下修大和尚) at Dinghui Zen Temple in his hometown of Rugao. In May 2018, he received the Three Plaƞorms of Complete Precepts at the Ancient Guangxiao Temple in Taizhou and in the same year, pursued advanced studies within the Department of Philosophy at Nanjing University.

A dedicated scholar, he graduated from the 4-year inaugural Bachelor's program at Ci’en Buddhist Academy in Wuxi in July 2021 and thereafter took residence at the Ancient Zhenru Temple in Shanghai. Since June 2022 till July 2025, he served various roles, the Guest Prefect (知客) and Director of Dharma Cultural Promotion (佛法文化宣傳總監) at Dongyueshan Zen Temple in Quzhou and Director of the Tianzhongshan Academy (天中山书院主任) and Guest Prefect (知客) of Fuyan Zen Temple, while concurrently serving as Vice Director of the Dongyue Academy. In August 2025, he joined join Leong Hwa Monastery, as Director of Dharma Education and culture where he continues to immerse himself in the study of the Tripitaka, balancing traditional monastic discipline with modern academic training.

釋惟定法師
佛法文化宣傳總監兼教務主任

釋惟定法師自幼善根深厚,2015 年 2 月正式步入僧團,於故鄉如皋定慧禪寺禮上宏下修大和尚剃度出家。2018 年 5 月,法師於泰州古光孝寺圓滿受持三壇大戒;同年,於南京大學哲學系進修。

作為一名學修並重的僧才,法師於 2021 年 7 月畢業於江蘇無錫慈恩佛學院首屆四年制本科班,隨後駐錫上海真如古寺。自 2022 年 6 月至 2025 年 7 月,法師先後擔任多項重任,包括衢州東岳山禪寺知客及佛法文化宣傳總監、桐鄉天中山書院主任及福嚴禪寺知客,並兼任東岳書院副主任。2025 年 8 月,法師加入新加坡龍華藏院,擔任佛法文化宣傳總監兼教務主任,繼續深入經藏,將傳統僧伽戒律與現代學術訓練相結合。

Venerable Shi Miao Hua

In April 2005, Venerable Shi Miao Hua received the monastic tonsure under the Venerable Guanche 上贯下澈大和尚 at Baoshan Zen Temple in Suzhou. In October 2007, he was fully ordained, receiving his Three Plaƞorms of Complete Precepts. at Longchang Monastery, Mount Baohua in Nanjing.

Following his ordination, he remained in residence at Baoshan Zen Temple until August 2010, after which he took up residence at Xiangshan Zen Temple, where he practiced diligently for fifteen years. In September 2025, he joined Lin San Temple as a resident practitioner and concurrently a visiting monk at Leong Hwa Monastery.

釋妙華法師
靈山寺常住法師 / 龍華藏院客座/辦公室主任法師

2005 年 4 月,釋妙華法師於蘇州包山禪寺禮上贯下澈大和尚剃度出家。2007 年 10 月,法師於南京市寶華山隆昌律寺受持三壇大戒,圓滿具足戒。

受戒後,法師於蘇州包山禪寺常住修學至 2010 年 8 月,隨後轉往香山禪寺勤勉修持十五載。2025年 9 月,法師加入靈山寺擔任常住法師,同時受邀兼任龍華藏院客座法師,隨眾修持。

Venerable Shi Long Yu
Resident Practitioner

Venerable Shi Long Yu formally entered monastic life in September 1996 Venerable Xin Zhan(上心下湛法师)  at Chong’en Zen Temple in Yixing, JiangsuIn September 2001, he received his Three Plaƞorms of Complete Precepts at Longchang Monastery, Mount Baohua in Nanjing.

Following his ordination, he held several key administrative roles, including serving as Monastic Supervisor (僧值 Sēngzhí) at Yuantong Temple in Yixing in 2002, and as Assistant Superintendent (副寺Fùsì) at Prajna Monastery in Hong Kong in 2003. In February 2009, he was appointed as Superintendent 監院 Jiānyuàn (t) at Wuhuang Zen Temple in Changzhou. In September 2023, he joined Leong Hwa Monastery.

釋隆宇法師
常住法師

釋隆宇法師於 1996 年 9 月正式出家,於江蘇宜興崇恩禪寺禮上心下湛法师剃度。2001 年 9 月,法師於南京市寶華山隆昌律寺圓滿受持三壇大戒。

受戒後,法師曾擔當多項行政重職,包括 2002 年擔任宜興圓通寺僧值,2003 年赴香港般若精舍擔任副寺。2009 年 2 月,法師獲委任為常州吳黃禪寺監院。2023 年 9 月,法師應邀加入新加坡龍華藏院常住共修。
